A Local Guide is a Google Maps contributor with a track record. The badge beside their name is earned across years of reviews, photos and corrections, and it changes how the review is read by the person reading it and by the system filtering it.
Local Guide versus a standard review
The review itself looks the same. What differs is who wrote it, how long they have been writing them, and what Google and the reader both make of that.
Any Google account can leave a review. There is no history behind it, no badge next to the name, and nothing on the profile that tells a reader whether this person reviews a hundred places a year or has reviewed exactly one. It counts, it moves the rating, and it is the bulk of what any profile has.

Two things happen. Readers weigh the review more heavily, because somebody who has reviewed two hundred places has nothing invested in flattering yours. Google awards points for contributions and the level follows from the total. This is public, and it is worth understanding, because it is also why these packages cost more and arrive slower than ordinary reviews.

The economics
A Local Guide account cannot be created. It has to have existed, and contributed, for years. That makes the supply fixed in a way that ordinary review accounts are not, and it puts a hard ceiling on how many can be pointed at one business in one period without the pattern becoming obvious.
So the packs stop where they stop and the windows are longer. This is the one service where the constraint is genuinely on our side rather than on the platform's, and it is worth knowing that before you compare our price to somebody advertising the same thing for a third of it.
The blend
Real businesses do not get reviewed exclusively by badge holders. If the last twelve reviews on a listing are all from level six Guides and nothing else has arrived in months, the profile has a shape no organic profile has.
The version that works is a majority of ordinary reviews with Guides among them, which is what a busy business actually collects. Most people who order this service order a standard pack alongside it, and we will suggest that if you have not.
How an order runs
Four steps, and none of them involves handing over a password. If any provider asks you for one, that is the moment to stop.
The public Maps link, plus how high you want to go. Level four and above is the default because that is where the badge shows. Higher costs more and takes longer, and on most profiles it is not worth it.
Guides against a profile with fourteen total reviews is conspicuous. We will tell you what proportion looks right and, if the answer is that you should buy standard reviews first, we will say that instead.
Guides write longer than average, with specifics: what they ordered, which member of staff, what the parking was like. Short praise from a badge account is the wrong shape and we do not send it.
These land further apart than any other service we sell. The window on the pack is real. Replacement cover applies the same way it does everywhere else.
Categories where the reader looks at who wrote the review before they read what it says. If your customers never do that, buy standard reviews and spend the difference on volume.
Diners and travellers are practised review readers and they check the reviewer. A badge with two hundred contributions carries weight that an anonymous five star does not.
Expensive, personal, and researched properly. The reader is looking for a reason to trust the review, and the contribution history is that reason.
Where every listing on the pin has a similar rating and a similar count, the composition of the reviews is what is left to compete on.
If a previous order disappeared, the account quality was almost certainly why. Guides are the other end of that spectrum.

Level four and above, because that is where the badge and the contribution count actually appear next to the name. Below level four a Local Guide is indistinguishable from any other account to somebody reading the profile, so you would be paying for something nobody can see. If a provider is cheaper than this, that is usually the corner being cut.
To a reader, clearly yes. A badge and a few hundred contributions answer the question everyone silently asks, which is whether this person reviews anything else. Whether Google itself weights them more heavily in ranking is not something Google has confirmed, so we do not claim it. The reader effect is real and provable; the ranking effect is not, and pages that promise it are guessing.
Because the supply is genuinely limited. An aged account with years of real contributions cannot be manufactured on demand, and the ones worth using are already busy. Rushing this service means dropping the account standard, which defeats the point of buying it. If you need volume quickly, standard Google reviews are the right product and this one is not.
Almost always, and most orders that work are a mix. A profile made up entirely of high level Local Guides is its own kind of odd, because real businesses do not attract only badge holders. A sensible shape is a base of ordinary reviews with Local Guides among them, which is what an established listing actually looks like.
