Why a photograph
Open any restaurant on Maps on a phone. The first screen is pictures. The words are below the fold and a large share of people never reach them.
A visitor can tell the difference between the photograph you commissioned and the one somebody took on a Tuesday. The second one is the one they believe, because nobody arranges a bad table before photographing it.
Reviews with images sit higher in the default ordering on most listings and get more helpful votes, which keeps them there. A written review from a year ago is on page four. A photo review is on the first screen.
Businesses upload a handful of photos at setup and then never again. A listing whose newest image is three years old is telling every visitor something about how closely the place is watched.

The images
This is the entire difficulty of the service and it is not the writing. A stock image gets found by reverse search. A picture already on your profile, reposted by a customer, is obvious to anyone who scrolls. Six shots from the same spot in the same light on the same afternoon read as one person with a brief.
What works is variation: different times of day, different angles, the sort of framing people actually use, including the slightly bad ones. Sourcing that is most of what this service costs, and it is why the packs are smaller than the standard review packs.
The pairing
A photograph of a dining room attached to a review about fast delivery is worse than either on its own, because now there are two things that do not fit. The text is written against the specific image, not generated separately and stapled to it.
It is also why we ask what you sell in enough detail to be annoying. A photo review that names a dish you took off the menu is a review your regulars will notice before Google does.

From you, wherever possible, and that is the version that works properly. Photographs of your actual room, plate, workshop or van are recognisable to anybody who has been there and impossible to source elsewhere. Where you have none we will say so and suggest what to take, which is usually four or five phone photographs rather than anything professional.
There is no evidence they are weighted differently, and we do not claim they are. What they do is get read first. A photograph is processed before a single word beside it, which makes it the fastest trust signal on a listing and the reason this service exists. The effect is on the human being choosing, not on the algorithm sorting.
When the photographs attached to reviews start outnumbering the ones you have posted yourself, the profile begins to look staged. On most listings that ceiling is lower than people expect. A handful of photo reviews spread through an otherwise normal profile does the work; twenty in a row does something else.
Usually not, and that is worth saying before you pay. If the work happens at the customer's address, or entirely online, there is often nothing to photograph that means anything to a reader. Trades are the exception, because a finished job photographs well. If you are not sure which case you are, send the profile link and ask.
It depends on the platform and the size of the pack. Smaller orders usually start moving within a few days, larger orders are spread over several weeks on purpose. A profile that gains fifty reviews overnight looks exactly like what it is, so we pace delivery to match how a busy business actually accumulates feedback.
